Hello, this is Hidori 😊

This time I visited Cheongnyongsa Temple, a quiet temple located in Seochang-dong, Yangsan.
Cheongnyongsa sits at the foot of Daewunsan.
Rather than feeling like a major tourist attraction, it’s the kind of place you naturally come across while walking through nature.

During my visit, I followed the walking trail around Myeonggok Reservoir, and that path eventually led me up to the temple. The scenery was better than expected, and the peaceful atmosphere made it a memorable little hiking route.
🌿 Starting the Walk at Myeonggok Reservoir
There are several ways to reach Cheongnyongsa, but I chose the Myeonggok Reservoir walking trail.
This reservoir is a popular spot among locals for light exercise and evening walks.
The trail around the water is well maintained, making it easy to stroll without much effort.

The surrounding scenery is surprisingly nice as well.
With the slopes of Daewunsan forming the backdrop, the entire area feels calm and spacious. It’s the kind of place where you naturally slow down and enjoy the moment.

Walking along the reservoir and gradually heading toward the mountain path, you eventually reach the road that leads up to Cheongnyongsa.
🏯 A Small Temple Hidden in the Mountains
Following the trail uphill for a bit, you’ll find the quiet grounds of Cheongnyongsa.
It’s not a large or flashy temple.
But its simple mountain atmosphere actually makes it feel more comfortable and welcoming.
The first structure that catches your eye is the bell pavilion.
In a mountain temple setting, even something as simple as a bell tower can create a strong sense of calm. Combined with the quiet surroundings, the atmosphere feels almost meditative.
There weren’t many visitors when I went, which made it even better for exploring slowly.
People visit temples for different reasons, but places like this naturally help clear your mind. Even without religious meaning, it feels like a good place to pause and rest for a moment.

🐇 An Unexpected Sight – Rabbits in the Park
On the way back down from the temple, I noticed something unexpected.
Near the front of Cheongnyongsa there’s a small park-like area where several rabbits can be seen.

At first I thought they might be wild rabbits, but I later heard that they originally came from pets abandoned there long ago. Over time, they reproduced and now a small population lives around the park.
If you walk slowly through the area, you might spot them grazing on grass or hopping around.

They don’t seem too afraid of people, but if you get too close they quickly disappear back into the bushes.
It was a small but charming surprise during the walk.
🚶 A Peaceful Temple Walk Worth Taking
Cheongnyongsa isn’t one of the famous temples packed with tourists.
But in many ways, that’s exactly what makes it special.

The walk from Myeonggok Reservoir to the temple isn’t very difficult, making it a pleasant route for a light hike or quiet nature walk.
Sometimes these simple places leave the strongest impressions.

If you’re looking for a destination where you can enjoy nature, a calm temple atmosphere, and a relaxing walk, Cheongnyongsa in Yangsan is definitely worth a visit.
