Hello, this is Hidori 😊

During my recent trip to Cheongsong, I found a place that made me think, “I’d actually come back here.”
The name alone gives off artistic vibes — Gallery Shelter Motel.
To be honest, I didn’t expect much at first.
But the final verdict?
👉 Great value + cozy atmosphere + free BBQ setup = surprisingly satisfying stay.
Of course, it’s not perfect. Some areas like windows and stair corners could use a bit more detailed cleaning. But considering the price, it’s still a solid choice.
📍 Location & Basic Info
- Address: 451 Jungang-ro, Cheongsong-eup, Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk
- Lodging only (no short-term stay)
- Around KRW 60,000 per night for 2 people on weekends (varies by room type)
- Close to Solgi Hot Spring and Juwangsan National Park
The location is ideal — enjoy the hot spring, then head back to rest.
Interestingly, even the tap water feels slightly silky, possibly due to the local mineral water source.

⚡ EV Charging Available (But Pricey)
The biggest reason I chose this place?
Electric vehicle charging on-site.
I prefer slow charging over fast charging — but at 345 KRW per kWh, it’s definitely on the expensive side. Still, having charging available right at the accommodation is convenient.

🏡 Exterior & Overall Atmosphere
The building shows a bit of age, but it’s clearly maintained with care.
In front of the motel, there’s a spacious garden area with:
- Lawn
- Pine trees
- Soft lighting
- A small pavilion
Combined with Cheongsong’s quiet air and clear skies, it feels genuinely relaxing.
The reception is on the second floor.
The hallway walls are lined with framed artwork, giving it a subtle “gallery” vibe — true to its name.
✔ Central staircase + elevator
✔ Microwave available in the hallway
The interior isn’t dark or stuffy like older motels — it feels relatively bright and neat.

☕ There’s Even a Café
Within the same complex, there’s a small café.
- Americano: 4,500 KRW
- Views of rice fields outside
- Local artist paintings displayed on the walls
There’s also a small animal area with rabbits and chickens — something kids would definitely enjoy.

🔥 The Hidden Highlight: FREE Indoor BBQ Area
This is the real charm of the place.
✔ Available from 5 PM – 11 PM
✔ 3 hours free per room
✔ Cooking utensils, gas stove, fridge all provided
Just bring your ingredients — that’s it.

Microwave, pots, pans, scissors, tongs, ladle, plates, glasses…
Honestly, it feels like a full home kitchen setup.
We stopped by Jinbo Traditional Market beforehand to pick up groceries.
We grilled beef chuck flap and mushrooms, and even cooked lamb shoulder rack I brought from home — absolutely delicious.
The owner even helped set up the charcoal grill (this may vary depending on timing).

Inside the heated BBQ room, under warm yellow lighting, the vibe feels like indoor camping.

At the table next to us, another family was boiling pork, cooking ramen, and sharing stew.
Everyone casually sharing food — it felt warm and nostalgic, something you don’t see often these days.

✨ Final Thoughts
✔ Not luxurious, but well-maintained
✔ Bright and comfortable for families
✔ EV charging available
✔ Free indoor BBQ space is the real winner
I went without high expectations, but left much more satisfied than I thought I would be.
If you’re planning a trip to Cheongsong and thinking:
“Is there a budget-friendly place with some character?”
This might be worth considering.
