Hello 😊
This is Hidori.
When traveling in Gyeongju, dinner plans can be surprisingly tricky.
Instead of another restaurant meal, I wanted something different—
a place with atmosphere, space, and a bit of camping vibe.

So this time, I booked a campnic-style BBQ spot near Gyeongju Kensington Resort called Haepeogup Day, and here’s my honest experience.
At first, I thought:
A BBQ place inside a pension complex? 🤔
But once the sun set and the lights slowly turned on,
the whole place transformed into a cozy, beautifully lit campsite.
Much nicer than expected.

🌙 Visit After Sunset for the Best Atmosphere
We arrived just after sunset, and that timing was perfect.
As the lights came on one by one,
the entire campsite glowed softly—
the kind of place that makes you take photos without even trying.
I’d actually recommend visiting after dark rather than during the day.
The lighting really makes the mood.
Check-in Process
- Park your car
- Go to the central management building
- Confirm your reservation
- Get guided to your site
Simple and smooth.

🏕️ The Management Building = Everything You Need
This building is basically the heart of Haepeogup Day.

🛒 On-site Market
They sell:
- Pork, sausages, shrimp
- Alcohol & drinks
- Vegetables & side ingredients
You grab a basket and bring everything to your site.
⚠️ Important note:
Outside food is not allowed (except baby food).
To be honest—
the meat prices are quite high, especially considering:
- Outside meat is not allowed
- Plus, you already pay a site fee

With so many campnic franchises popping up these days,
this place definitely leans toward the expensive side.

🥬 Unlimited Self Bar
The self bar includes:
- Garlic, chili peppers
- Kimchi, scallion salad
- Soybean paste, ssamjang
- Various dipping sauces
Take only what you need—unlimited refills.
There are multiple microwaves, so no waiting,
and they even have ice cream and snacks, which kids loved.

🔥 Warm Even at Night – Heaters Included
Each site is equipped with a heater,
so even when the temperature drops at night, it’s comfortable.
✔ Cool evenings
✔ Cold nights
✔ Seasonal changes
No problem at all.
They also provide:
- Storage boxes
- Tissues
- Bottle openers
- Burners
Very well-equipped and stress-free.
And yes…
the stray cats clearly know where it’s warm 😂
They casually walk into tents like they own the place.

🍖 Proper BBQ Setup
Staff members handle the charcoal for you,
and the grill is large enough to cook plenty of meat at once.

Typical flow:
- First grilling on the outdoor charcoal grill
- Finish cooking on the griddle inside the hexagon table

It’s basically impossible for the food to taste bad.
The meat quality was decent,
and while grilling, cats would sit nearby and wait patiently—very on brand.
🍚 Kimchi Fried Rice = Mandatory Finish
The perfect ending:
- Pork fat
- Kimchi
- Instant rice
- Scallions
- A touch of ssamjang
All fried together on the griddle.
A classic, no-fail finish.

🔥 Campfire & Marshmallows – The Real Highlight
After eating, the experience isn’t over.
Outside, they light a real wood fire,
and you can roast marshmallows.

Kids love it.
Adults secretly love it even more.

Standing around the fire, roasting marshmallows,
breathing in the cool night air—
this felt like the true ending of the night.

👶 Kids-Friendly & 🐶 Pet-Friendly
For kids:
- Sand playground
- Small arcade
- Drawing boards
- Gacha machines & cotton candy

Adults grill meat,
kids run around—
everyone’s happy.
Pet-friendly sites mean you can enjoy the space privately with your dog 🐾
A big plus for pet owners.
🧹 Easy Cleanup
After your meal:
- Separate trash
- Recycling
- Food waste
- Return used dishes
All done at the management area.
Quick and simple.

✔ Final Thoughts
✔ Beautiful lighting after sunset
✔ Heaters make it comfortable at night
✔ Full course: BBQ → campfire → marshmallows
✔ Great for families & pet owners
If you’re traveling in Gyeongju and want:
- A relaxed BBQ experience
- Camping vibes without heavy prep
- A place kids and pets can enjoy
Haepeogup Day is a solid choice.
That said—
compared to trendy city campnic spots,
it does feel a bit pricey considering the rural location and reservation fee.
Still, the facilities are excellent.
If you want camping vibes without the hassle,
this is a place worth considering 😊
